		<description>My theory is this: If you specify monospace as the primary &quot;font&quot;, you are probably fully aware of how it will look like (otherwise you&#039;d be kinda crap at web design). However, if you for some reason or other have monospace as a fall-back font, there&#039;d be no elegant way of knowing whether you&#039;ve fallen back to it or not. Therefore, it makes more sense to render monospace at the same size as the primary choice. Seems simple enough.

I agree that it&#039;s odd that they have chosen to render monospace smaller. At least on paper; IRL, when I look at the smaller rendering of monospace, it feels like the proper size for it to be. It &quot;feels&quot; like 1em, even if it isn&#039;t.</description>

I replaced my style with just &quot;Courier New&quot;:
font-family: &quot;Courier New&quot;;
And it&#039;s size it&#039;s ok! Now I have to find why it&#039;s color is a lighter gray in MacOSX browsers than it should be.
